PIM & Data Platform for Fashion E-Commerce

We used Directus as a Product Information Management (PIM) and Data Platform for a large fashion retailer to connect stores and warehouses with e-commerce.

Project Overview

What were the challenges?

- Incomplete product data in the ERP
- Many time-consuming, manual processes
- Lack of overview (products, stocks, prices, KPIs)
- Error-prone architecture with bottlenecks

What did we do? (Tech Stack)

- We established Directus as a data platform and thus decided against a classic PIM (Product Information Management).
- In addition to the products, the data platform Directus now also contains all data on stores, warehouses and various information for marketing.
- With Channable, we have used a feed manager that has greatly simplified multi-marketplace management.
- We introduced the order management system fulfillmenttools to establish a single source of truth for orders.
- We were able to greatly simplify the pick & pack process with automated document printing using ezeep.
- We used snowflake as a data lake to collect and transform all data.
- We used n8n to link the various APIs with each other and established numerous workflows.

What have we achieved?

- Consolidation of all data in Directus, including from Fashioncloud, Salsify and the ERP
- Sovereignty over all product data including convenient editing in Directus
- Data consistency across all platforms
- Inventory accuracy in all sales channels
- Sale of products via a Shopify online store, Amazon, Zalando, Otto and Kaufland
- Central and simple order and returns processing

A complete success for us and for the customer!
